About
Us: Sara M. Lassila,
CPA
Sara Lassila began
her accounting career in the Twin Cities 1985 and has enjoyed working
for several local accounting firms in Minneapolis. She became a
Certified Public Accountant in 1999. In 2010, she formed her own CPA
firm, Sara Lassila, CPA, Inc.
Located in Excelsior, the firm provides accounting services
for individuals and businesses in various service industries,
consulting, and nonprofit businesses. Sara developed an
accounting specialty in the Common Interest Community Association
field early in her public accounting career. Common Interest
Communities (CIC’s) are homeowner associations such as condominium,
townhome, single family, twin home, time share, and cooperative
communities. Sara has worked with many property management company
owners, property managers, self-managed associations, and board
members. Sara is very
active in the Community
Association’s Institute - Minnesota Chapter (CAI-MN). She received the Associations
Service Provider of the Year Award at the 2010 Chapter Vision Awards.
She served on the Board of Directors and was the Chapter President in
2008. Sara continues to serve the CIC community as the Chair of the
Homeowner Training Track Committee. This committee is responsible for
presenting educational seminars for association board of director
members. Sara has authored
several articles for the Minnesota Community Living Magazine and
presented many educational seminars for CAI-MN and for CIC Boards of
Directors. She has participated as a guest on local radio programs to
discuss common CIC issues and solutions. She is a recognized expert
in this area of accounting. During her
accounting career, Sara moved out the public accounting world and was
employed by a local golf club as their Controller. For more than seven years she
managed the accounting functions, cash flow, and banking
relationships of a dynamic business, managed through the government
red tape of licenses and permits, handled all aspects of Corporate
and Employee benefit insurance programs and all types of employment
and employee issues. There’s no
shortage of CPA’s who can prepare a financial statement or tax return
but the results will vary greatly depending how well your CPA
understands your business.
Sara’s understanding of the day to day business side adds to
her abilities to serve her clients. Sara is a
Certified QuickBooks
Professional Advisor, and provides training and support to many
small businesses and CIC’s that use the QuickBooks software. Sara is a member
of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and the Minnesota
Society of Certified Public Accountants. Contact
